Yes, CP is definitely Kirk lite and will NEVER the subject of my fan fic, but I did like him over all. He's just not close to WS. Watch him in Blind Dating--it was my "Chris Pine 101" to see if he has acting chops.
I see the movie as a matter of Nature versus Nurture, and OUR Kirk must have gotten ALOT of nurturing...
Sequel will tell the tale!
My first gripe with the movie? Iowa does not look like that.
I liked Chris Pine. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that.

I thought Chris Pine did a great job of creating his own Kirk. Of course he's not Bill, but no-one else in the Universe could even come close to Bill.
