Still Goin' Strong

A photo of Nimoy, Kelley and Shatner recording (or just laughing at) Star Trek: The Animated Series.
And hot damn, is Shatner in character or what!

I refer of course to the prominent EVE. What a pro.

New Trek movie trailer up

You can watch the lovely hi-rez version at Apple. In the meantime, here's the crummy YouTube one:

I could do without Young Kirk, but the rest is cool.

Logan has more screencaps, including this one of Kirk getting some action:

Obama/Shatner/Takei

From today's SF Chronicle. Shatner: always in the news, always relevant, still has no common sense. And I like Obama in the gold shirt!

Bill on Bill

This is *fascinating*! A very low-key Bill talks about himself, apparently just before they started filming STV. One thing's for sure: he does get an A for Effort.

Thanks, Mr. Atoz!

Bill doesn't just top this list...

HE OWNS IT!

I said a few weeks ago, Entertainment Weekly must have a crush on Bill because they keep doing lists that include him. Today, I am proven right. They have given Bill his own list!

Captain Kirk's 20 Best and Worst Moments

I officially declare this a "mag crush."

Drew Friedman: McCain/Obama as Kirk and Spock

From the New York Observer:

Leonard Nimoy approves of Barack Obama’s emotional detachment and logical approach to campaigning.

“He is measured and stable,” said Mr. Nimoy, who played Mr. Spock on Star Trek, and who has supported Mr. Obama since they first met about a year and a half ago at a small Los Angeles fund-raiser. “It’s true that he has an intellect that works for him, he handles difficult problems with aplomb. Reliability and stability are very important assets in this race, in these particularly volatile times.”

Mr. Obama, as far as anybody knows, does not greet strangers with a cloven V salute, practice debilitating neck pinches, bleed green or have a constitutional incapacity to fib. But his methodical, unflappable style and otherworldly resistance to overt displays of emotion—not to mention his temperamental inability, or refusal, to connect on a visceral level with working-class voters—makes him, by contemporary candidate standards, downright alien.

That’s usually not a good thing. Yet, with less than a month until Election Day 2008, the Vulcan is winning.

I think they're on to something here, except OH MY GOD HOW INSULTING TO KIRK! McCain looks a TROLL! He is in no way Kirk-like. I think he's more like Matt Decker after he went berserk. How about Kirk/Obama? Obama/Shatner? You know if Bill was running there's no way they'd lose because Bill Doesn't! Like! To Lose!

The best part, though, is this comment below the article:

Sarah Palin = Yeoman Janice Rand.
No doubt about it.

YES.

The Answer!

Read on...

JK: Like a flash of lightning it came to me!
JK: The answer to the Ultimate Trek Question!
LT: 42?
JK: What was Kirk doing between the 5YM and TMP?
JK: DRUMROLL
LT: going down on a belly dancer?
JK: Yeah that too but his main "assignment"
JK: He was the consultant on a TV show about him and his adventures. Kind of a "wagon train to the stars"...
LT: HAHAHAHAHA
JK: Just thought you'd wanna know
LT: that's great
JK: You could really get your mind all fucked up thinking about it. That's what we've been watching all these years - a TV show/movies from the future. Sent here by Starfleet to shape that future because we were on the wrong track.
JK: Actually sent by the Time Cops.
LT: a "historical document"
JK: Yeah
JK: And the Galaxy Quest people caught onto it
LT: yes!
JK: So we're the Thurmians.
LT: we have speculums
JK: But with no tentacles.
JK: That's why Kirk has all the best lines. Not because the actor (WS) wanted it that way (he was a real team player) but because the real Kirk said, "Why do you have Spock saying that? I said that!"
JK: Then he'd go home at night and want to bitch to Brandt but he couldn't because she was still so pissed off that she's not in the show.
LT: YES
JK: I'm glad that's settled.

Bill wants ABC to WIN! WIN! WIN!

Butt Girls Commentary via iChat:

LT: he looked good
JK: Yeah
LT: he hasn't gained back the weight
LT: go Bill!
JK: not yet
LT: his doctor is daring him to keep it off
LT: Oh right I forgot
LT: "Bill, most of my patients gain it back right away..."
JK: HAHAHAHA
JK: I think this Patton thing is one of Bill's best shills ever - right up there with "You'll never meet a bigger whore than I am"
LT: totally. and very Denny, too
JK: Yep
LT: I like the way Spader wanders in
JK: I'm so glad they were renewed
LT: like this was in the back office of Crane Pool etc.
JK: The 13-episode arc is supposed to focus on Denny & Alan
LT: ooh
LT: maybe they'll get married in California at the end
JK: It probably is, right next to that little kitchen
JK: Awwwwww...
LT: hahaha
LT: just to prove a point. not to have sex or anything.
JK: OF course not!
JK: They just want to make a point and file joint income taxes
LT: yep
LT: and write off those spa trips together
JK: Can married people do that?
JK: I've been missing out
LT: it's for business
JK: Funny business
LT: Denny would find a way to make it work
JK: In his strange little fantasy world...
