More crazy zine illustrations

I'm usually a fan of Gayle Feyrer's Trek illustrations - they're quite stylized and often hard-core explicit, and I think she does a good job of capturing the faces of the subjects. But this little gem - well, I can't tell what she's going for here, except TOTALLY BATSHIT INSANE.

I think this is Spock. Suggestions for what's happening here are welcome. It looks to me like he's got measles and is about to be strangled by a huge disembodied hand.

Way to Eden MUSIC SHEET

Yet another gem from one of the zines we're selling. This is from Vol 3 of the Star Trek Songbook - someone actually went to the trouble to transcribe the music for ridiculous song the Space Hippies sing in "Way to Eden". I haven't tried to play this and never will.

Click to embiggen - it's a .tiff so you could print it out and actually use it as sheet music, if you're that insane.

Now they've gone too far!

Star Trek Mr. Potato Heads will be released in August, beginning with a Captain Kirk and the Klingon Kor set.

This is a whole new level of WRONG. Captain Kirk did not wear gloves.

An Historical Document

From the Village Voice, January 27, 1972:
The scene was the First Annual Convention of "Star Trek" freaks, held at the fusty old Statler-Hilton Hotel for three days last weekend.

More than 2000 fans from all over the country came to hear Gene Roddenberry, the show's creator, inspire them with hints that the now defunct (but still re-running) program might still have a future, and to hear Isaac Asimov fill them in on the latest space gossip.

"Might still have a future"? Gosh, ya think?

Bleeding Tree Gets It

This album [Has Been] is truly wonderful and beautiful. If you don't give it a spin, well, maybe you just can't get over how much small and talentless you are when compared to Bill.
What an astute review. Read the whole thing.

Bill Is Everywhere! Even Scotland!

From the Edinburgh Evening News:
A NEW joint project between Edinburgh and Glasgow will unite the two cities in a month-long celebration of lyrics. Well-known writers and musicians from both cities will perform and discuss their favourite song lyrics as part of Let's Get Lyrical. A programme of more than 50 events throughout February will include those celebrating wartime songs, songs linked to gardening and even a night inspired by the music of William Shatner.

Och! Hoot mon! Gi' us morrrrrrre inforrrrrrmation, ye glaikit scrrrrribes! We mun know morrrrre about garrrrrrdening songs!

OMFG SHATNER SEXINESS TOWEL EVE CHARM AND HOTNESS

Here's the clip from The Fugitive, from whence came the towel EVE shot. Bill is just incredible in this - he is incredibly sexy and when he gets up from the bed, you can see his huge hard-on.

I had to go lie down and put a cool towel on my forehead after watching this. Jesus.

Thanks, zainin666!

Bill, the EVE, and a Towel

While browsing around the web today, I found some nice screencaps of Bill in an episode of The Fugitive, called Stranger in the Mirror, 1965. The first one is a classic over-dramatic pose (Kirk possessed by Janice Lester, perhaps):

But look at THIS! You can see the EVE under the towel! HOW DID HE GET AWAY WITH THIS??

So the EVE predates Trek. When you book Shatner for a role, you get the whole package, and I do mean package. Wow.

We need to watch this ep.

Walter Koenig Without His Toupee

As I mentioned in the podcast, these images were posted at a discussion at Shatner's Toupee:

Yep, he's bald.

Bill is EVERYWHERE! How does he know??

I bought some new ink for my printer recently and this is the insert that comes with it:

It's an ad to encourage you to make your own cards and posters. They use some interesting photos as examples.

See what I'm talking about? Here's a closeup:

So the message here is that HP knows I host this podcast, and is sending me customized advertising featuring WILLIAM FUCKING SHATNER. And Bill knows about it.

Isn't he handsome?

Another Media (Re)Conquered!

Punctuation!

From Urban Dictionary, as reported by Muffle me, night, awhile:
Shatner Comma: Oddly placed commas that don't seem to serve any actual purpose in punctuation, but make it look like you should take odd pauses, as William Shatner does when delivering lines.

This is what Shatner commas look like:

When, we get to, the restaurant, we should, order some, tasty, beverages.

I need to point out that I am a huge Trekkie and, in defense of William Shatner, his director directed him to speak that way.
So Bill has had the same director in every role?

OMG, someone is wrong on the internet!

Monday, January 10, 2011

Are they SURE? 100% SURE?

On InnocentEnglish, under Did They Say It?
Did William Shatner actually say “I have this reputation of being sex crazed. But really, that was the 60s and 70s. Everyone was doing it. Just not as well as me.”

Answer: No.
I dunno. That sure sounds like Bill to me.

Zines for Sale, Redux

More zines from JK's big box listed for sale here:

http://lenetaylor.livejournal.com/13171.html

And here's a totally crazy illustration from the first issue of Naked Times (for sale for only $10!). I don't know who that lady is, or why Spock is glaring at her, but I laugh like a hyena every time I look at this picture. (Click to embiggen.)

The holiday season ain't over yet! Up next: SHATMOY!

People will be celebrating everywhere. In addition to the Butt Girls' Shatmoy party in San Francisco, the state of New Hampshire has its own unique tribute to the Wonderfulness of Bill.

According to SeaCoastOnline:
[Last year, this] packed [the house] and will now be held annually with 2011 dates already booked.

[T]he "William Shatner Beat Night," founded by Brian Sullivan. It was held at the Coat of Arms in Portsmouth on March 22 in honor of Shatner's birthday — and his "aptitude for poetry reading," according to Sullivan. The night was filled with original and cover presentations, all done in the Shatner style.
New Englanders, get out there and party Shatner-style. And report back to us!

Note that we may celebrate Shatmoy early to coincide with Creation Con in San Francisco (March 11-12). We'll let you know as plans develop.

Another media conquered? Unsolved Mystery

Given how Bill's stories change every time he tells him, his entire past is kind of an unsolved mystery but we'd love to know if this book (William Shatner: The Man Who Knows) actually exists.
