I've listened to part of this episode and I wanted to respond before going on:
Thank you for kind words! I have listened to episode one (although it wasn't when you originally put it out there). It was like a few months afterwards or something like that. I remember going through many episodes before catching up with you. Then I never really went away. Even if I stopped listening to most podcasts.
As far as soundcloud - I noticed that pay issue. They didn't used to that, but now they do. How I get around it is: when you create a new episode I delete the old one and replace it with the new one. It works pretty well. I have even gotten a follower or two for doing that. Despite the fact that I do nothing else with the channel or whatever they call it. It's not perfect, but it allows me to enjoy the podcast more consistently.
I would point to my current fanfiction, but it is all pretty much Naruto based. So I don't think that you would be interested. There is some non-Naruto related stuff on the pipeline, but it is still not Star Trek based. I may end up writing Star Trek fanfiction again, but I dunno. We'll see. I have a pretty big backlog right now. Oh, the joys of having no time or staff to get stuff done. Real life just keeps bursting in.
As far as the fanfiction community, yeah they don't use the usenet groups anymore. They generally use either Fanfiction.net or Watt Padd. That might even change in the future. Some people seem to be moving to Patreon. Which wasn't exactly designed for fanfiction. So, whatever. It is what it is.
