SUPER KIRKLIGHT!

Bill and Early Television

PBS will air its "Pioneers of Television" Sci-Fi episode on January 18, 2011, 8:00 pm ET/PT.
Storytellers Gene Roddenberry, Irwin Allen and Rod Serling created the storylines and characters behind the best-loved futuristic television of their time. But as Roddenberry’s “Star Trek” competed for ratings with Allen’s “Lost in Space,” each show’s creator aimed for a very different direction. This episode explores how Roddenberry and Serling (of “The Twilight Zone”) used the future as a stage for modern morality plays, and William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols and other science-fiction stars describe how they prepared to interact on-camera with a malevolent alien force … or, perhaps, a giant radish.
Actually, all 4 episodes (Sci-Fi, Westerns, Crime Drama, and Local Kids TV) sound interesting. Note that Bill is also mentioned as a performer who worked in Local Kids TV so perhaps we'll finally see a clip or photo of His Buttness on the Howdy Doody Show.

Maynard Shills like Shatner

Our dear friend Maynard attended The Amazing Meeting, OZ edition, and was everywhere at once, seemingly. And he SHILLED for US! Listen to this great interview with Skepchick Rebecca Watson.

Hey Rebecca, you know me! I was in the Skepchick calendar once upon a time! I used a quote from Harlan Ellison and he thanked me personally!

Using his super-powers (charm & hotness) for good

William Shatner is a well known and respected icon of pop culture. As such he is one of the best celebrity spokesman for any cause. His persona embodies masculinity. If you wanted to retain his service as ambassador on your behalf the price tag would undoubtedly be hefty. I was so proud to have Captain Kirk defend a Gay man, even if it was only on a TV sitcom, against bullying by one of his Navy buddies that I had to write about it and share it with you all.

That quote is from a review of last week's episode of Shit My Dad Says at New Gay Earth (where all are welcome). BTW, the name of the episode was "The Manly Thing To Do."

Doin' us proud! Man up, homophobes!

Bill's Latest Cause

Bill has joined Jimmy Kimmel in promoting November 17 as National Unfriend Day. Nice article about it here.

So Bill, are you going to unfriend all those non-friends of yours on Facebook? Thereby making room for a whole bunch of new non-friends? Like us?

Think about it.

I know you're all wondering...

...why we haven't posted the clip of Bill singing "F**k you" on the George Lopez Show.

Here at LAHB, we have standards and we are proud to uphold them.

We will not post that clip until and unless we can post an uncensored version.
