Shatfest 2009!

We rocked! One of our fabulous listeners brought us a present. (Thanks, Mike!) Francine and Matt ambushed us at Bill's Place. I swear that was the name of the restaurant and it was one block from the theatre. Best! Hamburgers! EVER!

Will the Thrill provided the most beautiful background ever for our shtick.

How to Light Up a Vulcan

Another mind-blower from Entertainment Earth.

[W]hat makes it so special is a clear body that, when you tap his head, lights up!
Does Uhura know about this? It's so kinky!

It also proves that Kirk is twice the man Spock is. NYAH!

Star Trek XI - with holograms!

WARNING: As many wise beings have pointed out, the day they come up with real holodeck technology will be the end of all other human endeavors. And Star Trek leads the way! GO TEAM!

"With the packaging feature dubbed "augmented reality," consumers will be able to hold their disc packaging in front of any standard webcam to unlock an interactive hologram on the computer screen, through which they can tour five cabins on the Enterprise, even shooting enemies from the ship's deck."

Read more in Variety.

Sidenote:
You don't need the movie to do this: all you need is either a printout of the image or a copy of it downloaded to your iPhone, iPod touch. As long as you have a webcam, you can go to www.experience-the-enterprise.com/ww/ RIGHT NOW, click on the links for the images and check out this amazingly cool program.
I have no idea what that means but I'm sure Lene will figure out.

You should be reading Candorville

Candorville is one of the new comics in the SF Chronicle (and by "new" I mean it hasn't been running for 10 years...). One of the reasons I like it - besides the sharp political commentary and refreshingly non-white-middle-class characters - is that Lemont Brown, the main guy, is a Trek geek and is usually drawn with a Starfleet emblem on his shirt. In the current plotline, he's a journalist on assignment in Iran and has been captured. He tweets (follow him on Twitter!) to his friend Susan to "prove" that he's OK. Click to embiggen and enjoy the Trek goodness:

In space, no one can hear you mock.

July 23 - Party with Will the Thrill, Monica Tiki Goddess and the Butt Girls!

This is why you need to be on Twitter

Here's what greeted me when I checked my Twitter stream this morning (on my iPhone). I love the interwebs.
